Worldgen

Worldgen

A custom-generated world. 100+ overworld biomes, an overhauled Nether, an overhauled End. Structures everywhere.

The world on Sunday Market is not vanilla. It's vanilla's foundation deepened with custom biomes, structures, terrain shaping, and dimensional overhauls — a curated landscape designed to reward exploration in every direction.

Walking 5,000 blocks from spawn rewards you. The biomes shift, the structures appear, the terrain throws something new at you. Mining straight down doesn't just reveal more stone — different cave systems, different ore distributions, different surprises.

What this section covers

  • Overworld biomes — 100+ biomes, dramatic terrain, dense vegetation
  • Nether biomes — overhauled, denser fortresses, new biomes
  • End biomes — overhauled, new islands, new structures, new mobs
  • Structures — what to look for in each dimension; tier-stratified loot

What stays vanilla

  • The three dimensions exist as expected — overworld, Nether, End
  • Vanilla biomes still appear (forests, deserts, plains, mountains, swamps, etc.) — just often varied
  • Vanilla structures still spawn (villages, strongholds, ocean monuments, woodland mansions)
  • Vanilla blocks, vanilla mobs, vanilla physics
  • Bedrock at Y -64 (overworld) and Y 0/127 (Nether)

What's new

  • 100+ biomes in the overworld — many with custom textures, vegetation, and mob variations
  • Overhauled Nether — new biomes (dunes, weeping forests, glowing caves), denser fortresses, new mobs
  • Overhauled End — alternate End-island generations, new structures, themed sub-areas
  • Hundreds of new structures across all three dimensions — ruins, towers, dungeons, capitals
  • Reworked terrain — much more dramatic mountains, cliffs, valleys, islands
  • Tidal effects in oceans — somewhat more dynamic water
  • Continental-scale geology — terrain feels like real land, not vanilla noise

What's true everywhere

  • Spawn protection is overworld-only (the 600×600 zone). Nether and End are both fully open.
  • The world border is large but not infinite. Don't expect to run out, but it exists.
  • Worldgen is deterministic — same seed = same world. The seed is set; we don't randomize.
  • No worldgen will appear that destroys existing builds — once a chunk is generated, it doesn't change retroactively when worldgen rules update.

Why custom worldgen at all

Vanilla worldgen is great for the first 50 hours. After that, the biomes become predictable, the structures repeat, and exploration becomes "more of the same." Custom worldgen pushes that horizon out — there's always a new biome combination, a new structure, a new ruin you haven't seen.

This serves the Souls-game discovery principle (see design philosophy). Walking far from spawn should reward you. Generating chunks should bring surprise. We've turned the discovery dial up.

Strategy: where to explore

First 1,000 blocks from spawn

Mostly tame. You'll find a few of the more impressive biomes within 500–1,000 blocks. Good for getting your bearings and a starter base.

1,000 – 5,000 blocks

This is the "exploration sweet spot." Biome variety is heavy, structures are common, terrain is dramatic. Most serious bases live in this band.

5,000+ blocks

Wilderness. Less competition for territory, deeper biome variations, the rarer structures. A base out here is harder to defend (longer return trip if you die) but much more isolated.

Underground

Caves are deeper, larger, and more varied than vanilla. Worth exploring for itself, not just for ore. Some caves connect to underground structures — dungeons buried deep in cliffsides.

Other dimensions

The Nether is denser; the End has more islands than vanilla. Both reward exploration with custom structures and biome-specific resources.
