Pack — `/backpack`
A portable extra inventory you carry with you. Scales from 3 rows at Visitor to 6 rows at Myth+.
The pack is a second inventory that travels with you. Open it anywhere with /backpack (or the alias /bp). It scales by rank — bigger at higher tiers — and is your everyday "I need more pockets" tool.
How to use it
/backpack/bpA chest-style UI opens. Drag items in or out. Close it when done — items inside stay safely in your pack.
Capacity by rank
| Visitor | Member | Citizen | Myth | Legend | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rows | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 6 |
| Total slots | 27 | 36 | 45 | 54 | 54 |
The cap is 6 rows / 54 slots at Myth, then stays put through Legend.
What to carry in your pack
- Tools — backup pickaxes, shovels, axes
- Food — extra stacks for long trips
- Building blocks — cobble, dirt, planks for emergency walls
- Pearls — your travel kit
- Torches — caves are dark
- Map and compass — for explorers
- Boats and minecarts — water and rail travel kits
Skip the pack for:
- Totems of undying — they only protect you when held; pack contents don't (totems are auto-recognized in any inventory slot, but the pack inventory isn't an "inventory slot" the totem code checks)
- Anything truly irreplaceable — see the death note below
Pack contents drop on death
When you die, pack contents drop with the rest of your inventory into your recovery chest. They aren't death-protected like the ender chest is.
So: tools and food in the pack, irreplaceable enchanted gear in the ender chest or vaults.
Pack vs ender chest vs vaults
| Pack | Ender chest | Vaults | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open from anywhere | yes (/bp) | yes (/ec) | yes (/v) |
| Multiple containers | no | no | yes |
| Survives death | no | yes | yes |
| Best for | hot carry | irreplaceables | bulk |
| Capacity at Legend | 54 slots | 54 slots | 810 slots total |
Pack on Bedrock
Bedrock players see the pack as a chest UI just like Java. The contents are identical between editions — your pack on Java holds the same things when you log in on Bedrock.
